What Does Pet Sitting Mean?

At Sunny Spot Pet Care, pet sitting means I come to your home to care for your pets where they are happiest and most comfortable. I do not provide boarding in my home. Instead, I provide personalized visits that allow your pets to maintain their normal routines while you’re away.

For cats, I typically visit once or twice daily depending on their feeding schedule, medical needs, and desired level of companionship. Visits include fresh food and water, litter box care, medication administration if needed, playtime, and plenty of affection—on your cat’s terms, of course.

For dogs, visit frequency is tailored to each pet’s needs. Factors such as feeding schedules, potty breaks, exercise requirements, medications, and the length of time you’re away all help determine the ideal schedule. Whether you’re at work, out for the evening, or away on vacation, I can create a plan that keeps your dog comfortable and cared for. During vacations, dogs are typically seen multiple times throughout the day. A common schedule includes a breakfast visit, a midday potty break or walk, a dinner visit, and a final tuck-in visit with one last potty break before bedtime.

My goal is to provide reliable, compassionate care in the comfort of your pet’s own home, helping them stay happy, comfortable, and stress-free while you’re away.

I believe great pet care is about noticing the little things—changes in behavior, appetite, energy, routines, or mood—and keeping you informed every step of the way. I see myself as part of your team, helping your pets feel safe, understood, and cared for while giving you peace of mind. Whether it’s wiping muddy paws, refreshing water bowls, bringing in packages, giving medication, watering plants, or recognizing when something seems “off,” I'm here to provide thoughtful care that goes beyond the obvious.

Medical Needs

As a Registered Veterinary Technician, I’m experienced in administering a wide range of medications and supportive care services in accordance with your veterinarian’s instructions. This includes oral medications and supplements, injectable medications, subcutaneous (SubQ) fluids, and other individualized medical support your pet may require. My goal is to help your companion stay comfortable, safe, and well cared for while maintaining consistency with their veterinary care plan.

A Pet Care Consultation is a required first step for all new Sunny Spot Pet Care families and a valuable resource for existing clients experiencing changes at home, such as welcoming a new pet, adjusting to evolving medical or behavioral needs, or moving to a new home.

This in-home meeting gives me the opportunity to learn about your companion’s personality, routines, preferences, medical needs, behavior, and daily care expectations before services begin.

During the consultation, we’ll review feeding instructions, walking routines, medications, home access details, emergency contacts, and any special considerations that help your pet feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. Just as importantly, it gives your pets a chance to meet in a calm, low-pressure environment and begin building familiarity and trust.

Every animal is different, and these consultations help us provide thoughtful, personalized care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether your pet is energetic and social, shy and sensitive, senior, medically complex, or somewhere in between, I want to understand what helps them thrive so we can support them with consistency and compassion from day one.

These in-home visits allow us to get to know you and your pets, build trust, learn the details of your care preferences, and create a personalized plan that supports your pet’s comfort, safety, and well-being. Additional consultations are always available upon request to help ensure your care continues to evolve alongside your pet’s needs.

To help provide flexible, reliable care while accommodating busy schedules and special circumstances, additional fees may apply for last-minute booking requests, after-hours visits and holiday services.

Last Minute Fee – Visit requested after 12pm day before: $10
After Hours Fee – Early Morning visits beginning before 7:00am and After Hours visits beginning at 8:30pm or later: $10
