Meet Kelsey — Owner of Sunny Spot Pet Care, Registered Veterinary Technician & Professional Pet Sitter
Kelsey brings a deeply rooted background in veterinary medicine, professional pet sitting, and animal care, along with a calm, attentive presence that animals naturally respond to. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician with 7+ years of hands-on veterinary experience in both clinical and home care settings, including urgent care, mobile veterinary services, and leadership roles within a high-volume feline rescue. Throughout her career, Kelsey has supported animals through every stage of care — from routine wellness visits and client education to surgical support, neonatal care, senior pet support, and end-of-life care. She has a strong foundation in fear-free handling, patient observation, and recognizing subtle changes in behavior or health, allowing her to respond thoughtfully and proactively to each animal’s needs. In addition to her medical training, Kelsey is certified in Animal Reiki Level 1: Let Animals Lead®, a gentle, presence-based practice that honors each animal’s agency and comfort. This approach helps create a calm, grounded environment during visits and allows animals to engage on their own terms. Beyond her experience and training, what truly stands out is her ability to meet animals as individuals. Whether that means offering quiet companionship to a sensitive cat, keeping a playful dog engaged and fulfilled, or maintaining a steady routine for a senior companion, Kelsey approaches each visit with patience, respect, and genuine care. Pet parents can feel confident knowing their companions are in experienced, capable hands — and just as importantly, in the care of someone who understands the trust it takes to care for them.
Meet the Home Team
Behind Sunny Spot Pet Care is a very important feline support staff! Kelsey’s home team includes her own beloved cats, each with their own unique personalities, quirks, and stories. Living alongside senior pets, special needs cats, and rescue animals has deepened her understanding of compassionate, individualized care and the importance of helping every animal feel safe, comfortable, and loved.
Finnegan
He’s an 8-year-old foster fail who came to the shelter where I worked as a tiny kitten. He is blind and has cerebellar hypoplasia, which gives him the sweetest wobbly little bounce whenever he gets excited.
Row Boat
5 year old tripod with an adventurous spirit. His favorite hobby is spending sunny days outside in his catio.
Tuna Fish
11 year old queen of our castle. A shy lady until she gets to know you, then you’re her friend for life.
Walter
15 year old with a heart of gold and a passion for cuddling. He enjoys meeting new people.
